We have just heard that the planning appeal in to the refusal by Waverley  Borough Council to grant outline planning permission for 130 new homes on land in Lower Bourne, Farnham, Surrey has been withdrawn by the appellant….

Is this a response to yesterday’s High Court decision on Farnham’s Neighbourhood Plan you have to wonder?

The High Court yesterday rejected a case by Wates Developments, Bewley Homes and Catesby Estates that the Government Inspector’s approval of the Farnham Neighbourhood Plan was flawed.

The Judge, Mrs Justice Lang, dismissed the challenge leaving the way open for Waverley Borough Council to now formally adopt the Neighbourhood Plan following an overwhelming vote in favour by the public in a referendum earlier this year.

We’re delighted to be working with Farnham home-automation company SmartHomes again for the two new 4,500sqft homes for developer Clinton Properties Ltd. SmartHomes are designing and installing the whole electrical services works including a multi-media room, home-automation, lighting design and controls, cctv and security as well as AV and data services throughout the houses.

Construction of the houses in Weybridge, Surrey has now started following completion of the demolition works and site clearance last week.

The works are being overseen by CPL Developments of Hindhead who specialise in the construction of high quality new homes for both private clients and developers.

SmartHomes are also on site with one of our large remodelling projects for a private client just outside Farnham and have also been responsible for the design and installation of the electrical services on our projects carried out by another of our developer clients Tkei Homes.

Planning permission has been granted by Waverley Borough Council for this replacement dwelling in Farnham, Surrey.

The approval followed a lengthy planning process involving a number of applications and appeals to demonstrate the use of current planning policy and Permitted Development Rights to extend the existing building.

The site lies outside the settlement boundary of Farnham and as such Policy RD2A limits replacement dwellings to 10% more than the existing building. However, the process allowed for more than a 60% increase in the existing square footage to over 5,000sqft.

In addition, a separate annex building was approved under another PDR application to allow it to be incorporated in to the final design with a full basement beneath the house and lower level garaging below the annex.

The contemporary design is based around the concept of three separate blocks; one rendered, one timber clad and one a stone block. These blocks are separated and linked with a central glazed double height entrance hall opening on to the sunken rear terrace facing the west garden.
