Summary

Newly located alongside the First XV pitch the new Clubhouse building for Old Reigatians Rugby Football Club will provide the highest standard of accommodation for both players and visitors, to the latest RFU and Sport England standards. With a construction cost of £2M, jointly funded by the Peter Harrison Foundation and the National Sports Fund with Sport England, the club will have one of the best new facilities in the region.

Housed on the ground floor are 6 changing rooms, 2 suitable for female teams, for up to 20 players in each with dedicated showering and WC provision. There are also changing rooms for officials, a dedicated physiotherapy room and a fully equipped gym. Whilst on the first floor, enjoying raised views over the pitches from inside as well as a large balcony, served by a generous staircase and lift is a large clubroom capable of accommodating up to 300 people with dedicated bar and kitchen facilities. There is also a more intimate ‘snug’ bar room for the committee and players. Tucked to the rear is the substantial plant facilities needed for such a building as well as WCs and storage space. The building is serviced by an Air Source Heat Pump which helps cater for much of the demand from the building in a sustainable and cost effective manner – assisted by underfloor heating throughout and both heat reclaim and chilled air system into the club room to help cater for the demand such a room can generate, as well as a grey water storage system to help provide irrigation for the pitches.

Overlooking the club room on the second floor within the vaulted Oak frame roof to the south end of the building is a discreet meeting room that can be accessed without interfering with functions in the main club room, thus allowing parallel use to not only the club but potentially other parties.

The project was granted permission after lengthy planning negotiations in September 2008, commenced on site in December 2008 and is due for completion in November 2009.
