Today the findings of the RIBA’s Future Homes Commission\u2019s independent inquiry into the quality of newly built housing has been published. \u2018Building the Homes and Communities Britain Needs\u2019 calls for a revolution in the scale, quality and funding of home-building in order to meet the housing needs of our growing and changing population.<\/p>\n
The key recommendations of the Report are:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0 A three-fold increase in the number of new homes being built every year<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 A new, independently managed \u00a310 billion Local Housing Development Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 A greater focus on design in all new homes<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 A more consumer-oriented housing market<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 A lead role for local government<\/strong><\/p>\n Whether the Report will do any good remains, of course, to be seen!
